It's goodbye to BBC Radio 4... At least to some listeners. Long wave transmissions end at 01:00BST [02:00CEST] early this Saturday and it'll be FM and DAB service only over the airwaves.

I remember my first visit to Germany, being able to listen to Radio 4 on LW [albeit rather faintly!]

No services via Bedford it seems as the trains involved are just south of the town. Looks like 1H46 from Corby has run into the back of 1B67 from Nottingham according to my sources.
Yay for new badges!

I'm not sure if it is just me that is annoyed by things like this, hence why I thought I'd put it on social media...

If you are to have items on a website which require a definition, you need to detail the definition. This is something that the  doesn't do: when are "peak" and "off-peak" for Montréal? They detail public holidays though.

And when you consider that, on another page on the same website about a new bus line to Montréal Airport, peak traffic volumes at YUL are "...from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m., service frequency will increase to every 15 minutes." instead of every 30 minutes. Said page also says that "Bus departures will be synchronized with the REM schedule to facilitate travel for airport passengers and employees."

So does that mean that the "peak" for the  is 13:00 to 20:00 only? Is there a morning peak? Does that apply Monday to Friday? Or also Saturdays?

And who has a 14 minute service frequency? Really?!

And the website doesn't include a live departures option either.

This is an automated metro system in one of the biggest metropolitan areas of Canada. It is driven by a computer. No staff on board. Why not have a frequency of 10 to 12 minutes on each branch? You'd then have a 5 to 6 minute core frequency. If the frequency is the same when the YUL branch opens, you'll soon have overloaded trains to and from the airport.

Pride in Crewe - despite the clouds looming over us, it’s dry, warm and sometimes sunny! And the town is here to enjoy themselves

And now to illustrate the shortcomings of the rail network:

On the map, the damaged bridge is the yellow circle on the red line.

It isn’t affecting trains travelling between Coventry and Nuneaton (the black line with the blue arrow next to it) but this short piece of infrastructure is not electrified which limits diversionary traffic to non-electric trains… which Avanti have. But are cancelling as per their contingency plan. Whether they are route cleared for that is another question.

As a result, trains have to travel over the (already congested) West Midlands route through Birmingham International and via Bescot.

And whilst the line from Bescot via Walsall to Rugeley is electrified, traincrew don’t sign it and I’m not sure that the Pendolino or Evero trains would be route cleared either.

Diversionary routes are a problem in the UK.

Heute etwas anders geplant nach Hause!
It does indeed. But not for the reasons that this badge means!
