So thanks to DeSantis Florida School Boards are banning books that conservative idiots are afraid of. Duval County put out their list of banned books. The Chamblin Book Mine (the most awesome and immense bookstore in Florida let alone Duval County) responded by creating a new section in their bookstore to expressly sell those banned books. Now DeSantis thinks he can do something to prevent a private businesses from exercising their freedom of speech and to try and limit what books they can sell.

@georgetakei There are times when I really wish people had their own personal mute buttons.
@rbreich That is my money they are wanting to cut. I have been paying into social security and medicare with every paycheck for my entire working career. It is not ok for them to take my investment away from me because they mismanaged the account. There are better places to make spending cuts than taking retirement investments away.

@sarahemclaugh I am an ESL teacher in a community college. One of my students in my last class was from China. The stories he shared with us about how people are being treated in China over COVID were terrifying. He told me that they have to have an app on their phones that shows they had a COVID test in the last couple of days, that their temperature is normal and that they are healthy that they show to every business they go to even buses. If you do not show it you do not go anywhere.
@cadenza @juddlegum Exactly. If we want the red to turn blue we need to invest time, money, and effort into them. Georgia is getting there. Florida needs help. When you look at the people (even the ones that don't vote) I believe you will see that Florida is more purple than red. We can make a change if the effort is put in.
@juddlegum Florida needs for the DNC to not ignore us. Our candidates got next to no support or funding in the last election cycle. Thanks to that we got stuck with a governor that has actively tried to kill people through his inaction during the pandemic, ignores the majority of his constituents in favor of corporations (except Disney of course), and the Trump-leaning mouth breathers. I am tired of these Republicans ruining my state.
