We've seen so many horrific images that it is impossible to describe or process them all.
Sometime this year, in relation to the Gaza genocide, an old and dear friend said to me,
"I'm sorry, but I'm just not where you are'."
'Fuck,' I thought at the time. Then where are you?'
We're more than two years into the world's first live-streamed genocide. For more than two years we've been exposed to the most brazen and despicable wickedness.
For more than two years we've been in the grip of a moral failure that is both global and colossal. For more than two years people have had the opportunity to think,
"actually, maybe, now, I need to start doing something."
But no...
What most people have done is absolutely nothing. The only thing I now know for certain is that most of my friends and acquaintances are, in fact, 'not where I am'.
Fortunately, there are plenty of people who are where I am.
Some live very near me, most are further away.
Many are on the other side of the world.
The only good thing to come out of this desperate and dark time, which shows no sign of brightening, is that I now know a whole lot of really good people. People who realise the gravity of what is happening, who care more about justice and human rights than their own comfort, who care enough to give up their time to protest on a regular basis. People who write to their elected MPs, hold the media to account, sign petitions, amplify Palestinian voices. People who boycott, talk, read, write, listen, watch, give. People who bear witness even though it breaks their hearts. People who are doing whatever they can to stand against the evil they know impacts us all.

Then the Haganah authorities decided to attack the village and bomb the ice factory along with two buildings around it. A Haganah group opened fire on the ice factory in the village, while other groups opened fire and used hand grenades on the homes in the village. Moreover, an engineering group bombed the Askandroni building, the ice factory, and killed 15 people.

The women, children and the elderly headed towards the southern area of the village, and once they reached the outskirts, were met with Zionist gunfire, despite the fact that they were defenseless. A large number of them were killed, and the forces burned down several homes and bombed others.

This massacre was carried out by the third battalion of the Alexandroni Brigade and the Zionist plan was to attack the village from two sides; the north and south. One brigade was to block the road, while a naval boat blocked the withdraw route by sea. Every attacking unit was provided with a guide from the neighbouring Zikhron Ya'akov settlement, whose residents knew their way around the village, and the brigade leadership kept a reserve unit for emergencies. Al-Tantura did not initiate a battle with the Haganah, but refused their terms, so the attackers took the men to the village graveyard, lined them up, and killed 200-250 of them.
