1. Welcome!
2. There is a learning curve here, but most people find it short and not very steep. Play around, explore. You'll get it.
3. Lots of people are willing to help.
4. Yes, it's different than Twitter. Sometimes in good ways, sometimes not. But you'll figure it out.
5. With surges especially, things sometimes get slow/glitchy, but they usually get fixed pretty quick.

Toot!.app ↙︎↙︎↙︎Well, it took about as long as expected, but now Toot! v17.4 is finally here!
This version mainly features one new addition: Support for Dynamic Type, meaning Toot! will now respect your font size settings in iOS.
This required quite a lot of reworking of internals, so this version is rolling out through a one-week phased release. If you don't absolutely want the dynamic text size, there's no rush to get it, so I recommend leaving it to install on schedule.

And we have the right to laugh and point at his ridiculousness and at the free-speech pretenses of his gullible fans.

In case they are genuine, here's what I've found works:
⚫ try to post content, not complaints. People want to engage with you, not your gripes
⚫ try to learn. If you're putting in an effort to be part of the community, the community will welcome you
⚫ Try to avoid posting links to tweets, definitely don't cross-post. People want Mastodon content
⚫ Reply! Reply! Reply! Everyone wants to know someone's reading and considering their content, even you
⚫ Don't lurk. Many of us check for a filled out profile, avatars, and posts, before we follow someone back
⚫ Chill. It's a big new world that doesn't serve everything up to you
⚫ Avoid the trap of rebuilding Twitter here

It's common for folks to immediately think of the three-letter agencies when thinking about intelligence but there are a LOT of other options.
That being said, U.S. citizenship is one criteria that makes getting into the field easiest. Being a citizen of a Five Eyes country is probably second best.
The further away from there, the harder to break in (but its not impossible).
