You are holding a Halloween party tonight, all sorts of people attending in costume. The punch bowl has already been spiked, even before someone set up the music. There's a cheer as your buddies finally get the keg properly tapped for those needing lubrication, while others have wine and harder liquor to share around.

Then she arrives. Nobody saw her walk in the door, but there she is: Evalia deLune. Shadowvixen, sorceress, troublemaker - dressed in her carefully picked costume for just such an occasion.

And her smile borders on indulgent before she gives a bow of her head to speak.

"I really felt quite distressed upon not receiving an invitation..."

Another morning I wake up going "I want to try to write something", and spend twenty minutes staring at a blank paper while wondering how to start it off.

Then I sigh and go do chores instead.

Rediscovering a line from a show I used to watch and paraphrasing it here:

“Then what is the measure of a god? Is it the scope of their power or how they choose to wield that power? Would a god, who’s prepared to lead us down the path of enlightenment, so contradict this divine benevolence by destroying all those who refuse to believe in them?”

I love hearing published authors give advice which either boils down to... or is bluntly put as...

"Stop making excuses, stop putting it off, sit your a-- down and WRITE."

So, I would like to note this is not my fault... I'm relatively certain it's not, anyway.

The BattleTech quarterly magazine "Shrapnel" released this morning and I go browsing the table of contents to see this. I scroll down to read the article because... sure, why not?

Mercifully, it's not what it looks like but it's close enough to have me very amused at how this played out.
