Smol piece of writing advice: choose the unexpected, make it bigger, badder, weirder, wider, smaller, stranger than your initial impulse. Consider what the obvious story answer would be and don’t do that. You don’t have choose that way every time, but every time you choose you should think on it.

The Fantasy Writers Dilemma: 1) The Council of Elrond is pretty terrible writing. 2) Also, I LOVED the Council of Elrond.3) I must not write the Council of Elrond. 4) But it's so beautiful. 5) Return to 1.
Periodic FYI: I am much less on social media at the moment—mostly because the implosion of twitter has fragmented things so much that figuring out what to post where is too much work. Back when I get the spoons.
