Actually, I agree with everything you wrote with the exception of me being a ghoul.

Knowing the difference between ICE and Border Patrol is important.

Understand that ICE know who they are looking for. You can be unhappy about who they are being told to target, but it’s not random. In some cases the people may be the criminals they tout going after, but in many cases they are now going after non criminal “illegals” and Green Card holders.

I think this is important because I fear the lack of nuance may play poorly over time similar to the Defend the Police movement. We do want a way to deport actual criminals. This to large degree is a problem of bad objectives being set from the administration. And certainly there are Nazis and racists in their ranks that have no right to be running around with a badge of any type. In a working system they would be kicked out just like we expect of our police, even though they does not necessarily mean that we should have no police.

However, these are Border Patrol. They are a long way from the border, and have no set targets for deportation. So they are the ones harassing anyone who doesn’t “look or sound” American IE racial profiling. It is illegal what they are doing and I can only hope they one day justice will come and be much swifter than the last time we tried to hold such people to account.

At least half of us would prefer to be part of Canada.
Yes, actually.
Why won’t X be held liable for distribution of child pornography?
Think about how much different our would would be if they had decided all those years ago that platforms are liable for the content they host.
I personally know exactly that type. These are people I choose not to spend time with. I feel a bit bad for their wives because they are controlled and isolated.

I don’t quite understand why it would be relevant that she’s queer other than that’s the focus of the particular news organisation. I bring that up in part because I’m not sure there’s actually evidence that the mother of a six year old whose father died two years ago is in fact queer.

Seems unnecessary to confine people to extra boxes even if true.

Duck Duck Go, done.

Lots of comments suggesting Zorin is for beginners who don’t know Linux and just want something like Windows. I’d just like to say that I have been using Linux as my daily driver for over 20 years now. I’ve done a lot of distro hopping, everything from Puppy and DSL to Garuda and Ubuntu.

Zorin is a great OS for people who like understandable work flows and a polished interface. Lots of excellent options in Linux land, but even with all my years of experience I’m quite happy to settle in with Zorin.
