Huh? Small businesses are the ones that predominantly use FB to replace traditional websites. If you want to support local business, chances are they are using a free Facebook page rather than paying for web hosting.

Gladys’s Artisanal Buttplugs is owned by a 60 year old who doesn’t know the first thing about running a website, but she has used Facebook to send spam to her grandkids for years. If I want to avoid giving my money to Big Plug^tm^, FB may be my only way to contact local creators.

I get the disdain for FB, I really do, but pretending that there aren’t people being held hostage by the system is a bit silly. This thread was about someone trying to untangle themselves from FB, and you’ve turned it into a moral argument, as if they don’t agree with your assessment of social media anyway.

OP isn’t asking about how to keep viewing shorts or memes from friends.

Many businesses forgo websites and put their contacts, opening hours, menus, and updates on a dedicated Facebook page. Is that small business open on Sundays? Google says yes, but Facebook has a post from the owner about their dog dying so the store is closed for the week.

I am part of several social groups that communicate entirely through Facebook. There is no way to get updates out to all members outside of the dedicated group pages. A venue change a few months back caused chaos because some people didn’t check the Facebook group in the week leading up to the event.

I too want to leave Facebook, and have stripped my use down to these minor use cases. But getting rid of it completely at this point cuts me off from some of my only positive mental health activities.

There is no way the prices are dropping. When the price of fuel tipped over $1/L here, it just became the new baseline. The base price now is $2.20/L, and even if the price of oil in general drops, I can not fathom businesses going below that new baseline once people become accustomed to the cost.
Okay, but my 20+ year old Lego still work today. Can I expect this e-waste to perform the same for my grandchildren as it would today?
TL;DR “I’m a cunt, and it’s everyone else’s fault”

Fixing the fact that AI is often wrong? Or fixing our ability to scroll past it?

Don’t worry, I already know the answer.

I felt exactly the same way. I only got to Alfheim (with the elf civil war?) before I realised I’d be doing the exact same gameplay cycle for the next 20 hours, and bailed out. The Wikipedia article explains the plot, and I don’t feel like I missed anything.

But Harris is the best candidate… For the interests of the wealthy members of the DNC.

She will keep things exactly how they are, but act like they have changed for the better. The rich will get richer, and the poor will get assaulted by police.

Why would the DNC give a single fuck about the desires of anyone but themselves? They suffer no consequences for their actions.

Can’t wait for this film to wind up nominated for Best Visual Effects after everyone in the film goes on and on about how the use of CGI or greenscreen makes a film feel fake and THEIR film feels real because they built their own set. As if other films have never used a physical set in conjunction with greenscreen and visual effects to make successful films.

There is no doubt a team of very talented visual effects artists on this film who are being underpaid and overworked. Why are these filmmakers then stigmatising the work they depend on to make their generic popcorn flick?

I liked season 1 and 2, but after 3, I don’t know if I can recommend the show as I feel it is on a downward trajectory. Similar to how I loved the first seasons of Dexter, but the last seasons of the original run make it un-recommend-able for me.

If someone were to watch From though, I would strongly recommend avoiding any online discussion forums about the show. They are very big on sharing leaks and theorising the show into the ground.
