Upon some reflection I've likely conflated the means-end of heaven from the influence of Jesus's declaration: "I am the Way, the Truth and the Life. No one can come to the Father except by me."
That's pretty clear isn't it? He's the way, the road, the path to the Father.
Also a possible influence? "Practice makes perfect."

And more specifically heaven isn't just the road to get there, but your state of being as you're moving along that road to get there. You're aware that you're going the right way, and with each step and each hour you're getting closer. That awareness embues you with hope and anticipation, which itself is heavenly.

Okay I wanna posit a theory that occurred to me today.
Heaven is a direction. Or rather heaven is a movement in that direction.
Now, lemme change that - - so heaven is a place, a location, yet it's not only a destination but also the road to get there. Which, naturally, requires a person to bear an orientation toward that direction.
