And Robotnik’s robot designs are interestingly sleek and intimidating compared to the toonier ones in the games.
So yeah, overall, the Sonic movie is a good, fun time. I highly recommend giving it a watch and supporting everyone involved for their hard work. <3

Now visuals and animation. Elephant in the room, Sonic desperately needed the redesign he got. He’s so expressive and fun to watch! But I don’t need to tell y’all twice, you already know the story I’m sure. But really, I can’t even imagine what the movie would’ve looked like with the old, gross, less expressive design. Besides that though, there’s some good, professional composition shots I suppose.
uncharted genius and is always 3 steps ahead, making him all the more threatening. Tom may seem like he’s just kind of there, but he stays determined, keeps his spirits up, and wants to help and protect whoever he can, even blue, anthropomorphic hedgehogs. He has his wits as well, being a cop, so don’t be too quick to diss him~ He also has a girlfriend, though she mostly just follows Tom and Sonic around whenever she’s there.
missing this kind of cleverness and emotion in their writing, and I hope Sonic Team will learn from this, or a new team if ever there will be one.
Okay, so, characters. Sonic in this movie is portrayed as a teenager with issues of loneliness. And that’s a good direction to take him! That means we can more easily sympathise with him and root for him! Besides, he’s canonically 15, so it’s about time that gets represented properly. Robotnik is a nutcase, but he has that-
So I guess I’ll start with story and writing. It’s fantastic! A lot of people, myself included, looked at this premise and expected it to be just like any other live action adaptation. And granted, I know the premise alone is completely unnecessary, especially for Sonic...but here it’s written so that it’s actually very decent and cohesive. It has the attitude and snarkiness Sonic is known for, making even the human characters interesting! Honestly the games have been-
