Clean energy sources (wind, nuclear, solar) generated about 40% of electricity in
@ERCOT_ISO in 2022, natural gas once again took the top spot, holding steady at its 17-year average of 43%, and coal continued its decade plus long decline.
We also talked to local folks to learn about how landowners feel about the projects that they lease their land to.

You can also click on any location and download the project specific estimates for taxes and landowner payments in each location.

We also deployed the data in an interactive website that allows you to change the geographical boundaries beyond counties for how the projects are grouped and allows one to take a quick look at the area.

This wide distribution of projects means that the billions of dollars in local taxes and landowner payments are also spread across the state!
Wind, solar, and energy storage projects are generally located over a large part of the state.
tl;dr - existing & planned (IA signed) utility-scale wind, solar, & energy storage projects will pay between $12.5–$15.9 billion in total tax revenue & $7.1–$11.3 billion in landowner payments over their lifetimes, with 60% of those revenues going to rural areas in the state.
