Hugo Landau (great tech history blogger known for an overview of the IBM i (AS400) architecture) recently published some new articles:

"The Talos II, Blackbird POWER9 systems support tagged memory"

Long ago, Landau wrote about IBM i's One Weird Trick(tm) to store an extra tag bit for every 16 bytes of memory.
Late last year, he and another PowerPC enthusiast finally found out how to activate it on OpenPower systems outside of IBM i.

"Memoirs from the old web: IE's crazy content rating system"

Landau boots up Windows 95 to examine one of Internet Explorer's least-known features: it allow websites to declare a content rating via a <meta> tag... with the ridiculous complexity you'd expect of a protocol designed in the late-90s.
