Sounds perfect: import food instead of forcing yourself to grow out in places poorly suited for it. With the surplus, buy enough rice to feed everyone. Maybe we should apply this logic to almond growers in California. #comparativeAdvantage #trade #economics
Also, since chips are a higher value use for water, the solution is Coasian, compensating farmers to forego their #propertyRights to water with the government coordinating the bargaining to reduce #transactionCosts.

For anyone using @coreeconteam I've been working on some social experiments and simulations to use when I teach this fall. Experiments are on github (https://github.com/bangecon/econGame: crop choice, pest control, public good, ultimatum); 1 sim is up on Shiny (https://machineecon.shinyapps.io/laborContract/).
Paper draft describing the simulation apps here: https://github.com/bangecon/econGame/blob/main/docs/econGame.pdf
The code may have bugs, and there could be room for improvement in the interface, so I welcome feedback.

Students don't believe me anymore and it's not a hill I'll die on but yes research does show handwritten notes are better for learning.

Digital methods for note taking are everywhere, but are they as valuable as old fashioned handwriting skills?

Very good pieces of advice for students, to which I might add: talk to your instructors! Ask questions in class, visit office hours, engage in class discussions.
