Just some dude. (He/Him)

@georgetakei
That’s alright. We’ll just keep taxing Puerto Rico without them having proper representation.

The way the founding fathers intended!

@Tutanota Couple others:

News: Any RSS apps (eg Feeder)

Wallet: Not great options. But loyalty cards work in Catima. NFC payments are tricky. Some (non U.S.) banks... and Garmin Watch again...

ToDo: Tasks.org, jtx Board

Weather: Breezy Weather

I'm a dummy. I just remembered.

SmartWatch (again) : Pebble! They're back! 🎉

@Tutanota a few suggestions:

Email: Proton (yes yes I know, but you mention them in calendars anyway.)

Translate: DeepL (?)

Browsers: I know they're Chromium, but options like Vivaldi and (reluctantly) Brave aren't half bad.

App Store: Obtainium

Android: Drop Calyx, its not actively being developed right now and is more of a security hazard than anything.

Maps: HEREWeGo (HERE Maps) is honestly pretty alright.

SmartWatch (WearOS): GadgetBridge, Garmin(?)

Google Home: Homeassistant

Surgeon General’s Warning: Unfortunately Sentient Meatsuit may contain harmful contents.

@DGI Do you mean to tell me that the economy should be a tool to serve society rather than have society serve the economy?

That's crazy talk. I bet you actually care about the well being of your family and friends too. Commie!

@futurebird If such a person existed with that knowledge though, I'm sure they'd be very sympathetic about the issues and quite sorry. Even if it's not their agency. Still sucks to see this happen. Best of luck with the insurance.

Side idea: Just food for thought, stitch that razor cut back together. It might be "not too bad" once repaired, and a little bit personalized. I dunno, just a silver-lining idea. Good luck in any case!

@futurebird
If someone were to hypothetically work in a similar function for a certain government entity (not saying that applies to me), they may point out that A. There are a lot of (relatively) new hires that were rushed on before a certain pompous dictator took control who have no idea what's going on and are super stressed out and B. They may be working at breakneck speeds with unfortunately reckless results. Not an excuse, just an unfortunate HYPOTHETICAL situation that I don't know of.

@dnsprincess I think Librewolf is the right answer, especially with ublock origin. Vivaldi is okay (albeit a bit bloated/disorienting) for any websites that demand Chromium.

I've seen some other Firefox forks that seem... fine? Depends on your preferences. Mull, Floorp, Zen-- All just different flavors, but maybe one of them is up you alley.

Someday I look forward to Ladybird Browser emerging from its pre-alpha/vaporware state. Until then, LibreWolf works just fine for me.

@hell
Firefox: The Bee's Knees
LibreWolf: The Bee's Tibia

@cmccullough These old distros can't keep up with our changing world. That's why you have to switch my new distro Glunko OS! It's state of the art with all the preinstalled apps that I specifically prefer, uses only the specific DE I prefer, and I'm fully committed to keeping up its maintenance and security for the next 2 hours when I get bored. I didn't want to waste time reinventing the wheel though, so I built it on something stable called Debian.

So ha! My OS is better than yours!
