I was talking with my Ukrainian Refugee friend (I assume y'all have one too) and realized we were reminiscing about the peaceful and happy days of 2021.... yeah we were pining for the latter days of fuckin' 'rona.
We were MISSING THE PANDEMIC.

Psst. Folks in Aus. The Telstra plastic pit covers? Newish ones? They have a little NFC icon in the corner.
You’d better believe that’s an NDEF-formatted [correction: unformatted but NDEF-capable] NFC card chip embedded in the plastic.

And oh yeah, it’s writeable.

New dead drop system invented — NFC shoes picking up secret keys

@lainalien I started doing that years ago.
@mcc 6 is closest, though it was more 'given'.
@psistarpsiii technically they already did us the favor by giving two years to sort our shit out before they started the kabooms.
Russia's responsible for more than exporting oil, they also export the IDEA of oil. Their influence in shaping policy at all levels towards those interests has been massive. That will vanish too.
Possibly the very worst actor in this entire space is folding up before our eyes. Make sure to wave goodbye.
@psistarpsiii There will likely be pain and joy in equal measure, as happens when the world turns.
But yeah, the countries which put effort into renewables will be feeling good, and those who trusted the myth of "reliable baseload power" from fossil fuels will need to roost their chickens.

So, heads up... the Ukrainians are systematically destroying Russia's oil infrastructure. 10% of production went offline in the last week alone. And also the month before.

Now's probably a good time to think through the implications. Of that, and the US export ban on LNG, and how Saudi Arabia is right next to the Houthi shipping crisis.

Global energy policy is being re-written one drone at a time. We always said technology would change the equation. But I didn't expect this.

I probably should not have watched Oppenheimer and Jojo Rabbit back-to-back for the first time. That was a rough ride. Such an incredible movie about the moral choices people make in the extremis of war, how those with good intentions can be driven to perform horrific acts by their leaders, in the name of patriotism. The atom bomb film was OK too.
I'm at the Green's election After-party. It's a fun time, with some nervous energy.
