______________________ # USEFUL THINGS I WISH I KNEW BEFORE PLAYING / BEATING
CONTROL Latest Revision: 5/17/21 NOTE: At some point, reddit decided to
completely remove more than half of what I wrote in this post, so… here’s what’s
left: Hi! This has became one of my favorite games of all time. As of 109.2
hours on PC-Steam, I have obtained all collectibles and steam achievements! I
wish the best experience for others, so I thought that I would throw together a
list of useful things I learned, that I wish I knew sooner! COLLECTIBLES

Specific Tips: 1. Launch skill, especially multi-launch, is amazing for damage,
taking care of shields, and flinching. Launch > shoot > repeat is usually an
easy strategy for difficult enemies or bosses. Some might even prioritize that
over health and energy, but I personally leveled these 3 up pretty evenly. It’s
also really good to use as a panic 2. Seize skill is also very useful especially
when fighting bosses, mini bosses, or heavy spawns. Don’t underestimate it’s
usefulness! It takes the aggro off you and gives you some breather. Bonus if you
seize something that heals you or heavy enemies. TIP: You can seize those
annoying healing orbs! 3. Get the unique weapon mods. For example: Eternal Fire
for Grip, and Custodial Readiness for Pierce, are extremely nice and borderline
essential. You can look up where these drop, but I think they’re mostly from
side quests. I don’t know if there’s one for surge, but the rest I’ve found are
Thin Space for Charge, One-Way Track for Shatter, and Spam Mail for Spin. 4. Low
on health and having trouble healing? It’s pretty cheesy, but run back to the
nearest CP for full health. Remember it only pauses the game if you select one
of the options in the CP. Refer to Nexus Mods section #2 tip for an extra step.
It took me an embarrassing amount of time to realize I can just heal from the CP
5. Have trouble with bosses? ~~Look through this subreddit for advice or ways to
cheese the boss. I would’ve saved myself a lot of frustration if I had checked
here sooner for tips. Some of these bosses can REALLY be cheesed. ~~See section
below for boss cheeses :) 6. IMO Don't worry about crafting Astral Construct
Mods until late game. It’s quite expensive to upgrade constructs level,
especially with source. The CAT(2) and CAT(3) materials have even been hard to
farm post-game because of spawns, so those materials are ideally better to farm
before beating the game. In my experience, farming VI mods from countermeasures
is more efficient than via astral constructs, just due to the “rare” materials
7. You can eventually get all skill points! I believe hidden areas give 1-2, and
of course do lots of quests. But mainly, don’t worry too much about what you
should pick in your skill tree because you can get them all. My personal
priority (roughly) was launch/energy/health > levitation > shield > seize. I
didn’t know how useful seize was unti late game, so I would’ve probably done
that after levitation. I had my full tree unlocked + 3 spare, with 93 hours and
2-4 steam achievements left. ______________________ # LEVEL 6 MODS FARM
(foundation warehouse) Image Reference [https://imgur.com/a/kJKBdt6] - This is
the “Warehouse” Control Point (CP) in the foundation >Color Labels: >Green -
Common entrance to the area >White - Steps; also reference to how you “force
spawn” >Yellow - Roughly where the CP spawn is >Red - Where the enemies will
spawn Clip Reference [https://youtu.be/42JtcmQJifE] Process: >Essentially, all
you do in this farm is dash back & forth, trying to force spawn the enemies. For
whatever reason, there’s an invisible wall of some sort, which is roughly where
the white line is. So the general process is: Spawn at the CP, kill enemies, go
back to the wall, and dash in and out of it (doesn’t have to be a tight
distance, in fact I ended up doing a larger distance), kill new enemies that
spawned, repeat. Sometimes I had to go through the tunnel (going away from the
open room) to where the (I think) ranger spawn/caller is, and then go back
______________________ # BOSS TIPS Story bosses tactics / cheese methods (note:
these methods may decrease fun but relieve frustration) Salvador (main story) -
Take cover, launch, shoot, repeat. Launch to break shield, then shoot / snipe.
Sieze-ing enemies helps Hiss-corrupted Tomassi (side?) - Use cover, shoot /
snipe from a distance. Be wary of enemies spawning around you, you can kill them
for health. Mr. Tommasi (final / side mission) - Cheese: Fight him from up top.
To get there, head to the right, jump on the rack / shelves, then jump up top.
He shouldn’t really attack you up there but he could get close. Kill enemies he
spawns right away. Snipe with pierce, launch 1 then launch 2nd object should hit
& stun. Location [https://imgur.com/a/mSQzZvv] Anchor (side mission - the enemy
within) - If you go to the east platform first, it won’t register hits. Wait
until it goes to the south platform (starting). Throw objects at it when it
opens. Throwing a clock at it will speed up the fight. Move across with it &
repeat. Use charge to take out normal enemies, pierce to take out flying -
Cheese: Find the lower ledge (look down from the west platform) and launch
objects when it faces you (twice per round). Repeat until dead. Be cautious of
flying Hiss Charged. Levitate up to the platform if you need health. Location
[https://imgur.com/a/soYijwC] - sorry, lost the video Former (side mission -
fridge duty) - Launch its ball back at it, or other objects. Be careful when it
melees the ground, not to fall in that hole. Be mobile, & levitation helps.
Dodge before it melees. Can shoot the orbs he throws at you esseJ (side mission
- self reflection) - Cheese: Find the L stairs that you came up from. Hide
around the corner, peek out to launch / shoot. esseJ won’t go down the stairway
to you. Remember launch is a nice stagger, following with shooting. Can grab her
rockets and launch them back at her. Location [https://imgur.com/a/AluDDqs]
Mold-1 (old growth | DLC) - Dodge, use levitation. Take advantage of the rock as
cover. Launch damage is OP. Don’t be on the ground too much bc of toxins Hartman
(DLC) - You’ll fight him many times; he runs away at the end of each until end
of the game - Final fight tips: Stay in light when you can, levitate in
darkness. Energy only regens in the light. Once lights are on, all you have to
do is stay aggressive, keep flinching him with launch so he doesn’t turn lights
back off. Launch, shoot, repeat. ”Jesse Faden starring in Swift Platform”
mini-game / side mission (not a boss) - Use pierce / grip to take care of flying
enemies. Charge for ground enemies - There’s 1 part where you have to levitate
over and back to avoid crashing - Jump / avoid earlier than you think - When the
first heavy gunner “mini boss” spawns, stay mobile / use shield for a few
moments until he gets smacked by the wall. Don’t need to kill him - When the
actual boss spawns, use shield strength, health, and energy. Pull up shield when
he attacks, shoot, repeat until dead ______________________ # OTHER TIPS 1. What
is “swift platform”? - It’s a unique side quest “mini-game” to cleanse an
Altered Item that’s available after reaching the Transit Access in the Collapsed
Department. After you complete it, you get to cleanse the Movie Camera Altered
Item , Case Files: Movie Camera Procedures, and 3 skill points - To get to it:
Foundation > Transit Access CP. Then head up the stairs, through the door, climb
on the boxes to get on top of the walkway, levitate west towards & through the
glass, down the stairs & to the right into Transit Access, go into the elevator
on the left, then head out and left to the glowing platform - Sorry, I lost
video directions :( Once you hop on the glowing platform at the end, you can
interact with it to start. Unfortunately I don’t know of any way to repeat it
for fun. Hope that helps! 2. Spawn rate is much better BEFORE beating the game
3. Farming “source” - Foundation > Warehouse farm (that was the level 6 mods
farm) - Expeditions 4. Farming Tier VI mods - Board countermeasures, hands down.
You can accept & abandon infinitely until you get the ones you want. It feels
most efficient to complete these at the warehouse farm due to spawns. I like to
avoid Hiss Disrupted & Sniper countermeasures, the enemies are too rare.
Otherwise at endgame, you can make your own in Astral Constructs 5. Farming any
materials (intrusive pattern, remote thought, etc) - Check menu > assets, shows
drop locations - Ex: “Remote Thought CAT(1)” = containment, comes from
containment sector. Cat1 = basic enemies, cat2 = named & bosses, cat3 = special
drop (only alerts or quests?) - When farming, spawn at location, kill all
enemies BUT 1, quit to menu, repeat; or walk in/out room a few times 6. Farming
other items - Undefined reading (1) & house memory (2): executive > mail room -
Ritual impulse (1) & threshold remnant (2): maintenance > black rock quarry -
Intrusive pattern (1) & astral blip (2): research > ritual division >
synchronicity lab - Remote thought (1) & entropic echo (2): containment >
transit corridor > containment chamber a2 - Corrupted sample (3) & astral blip
(2): research > active threshold > jump down hole - Hidden trend (3): bureau
alerts & named enemies - Untapped potential: mission rewards 7. Recommended
unique / helpful mods - Health recovery on launch hit: farm foundation enemies -
Eternal fire (grip): 100% more ammo refund chance on hit - Thin space (charge):
+500% projectile speed - Custodial readiness (pierce): -100% shot charge time -
One-way track (shatter): -100% projectile spread - Launch energy cost - Energy
regen - Health & health recovery per element pick-up - Sieze speed (good for
bosses/endgame) - Shield strength (good for bosses/endgame)
______________________ # MY EXPEDITION RECOMMENDATION (and order) - 3rd island:
3 dead bodies - Find 3 dead bodies (listen for beep). Recover log from each.
Lead hiss on goose chase, don’t waste time killing - 2nd island: Hiss waves -
Focus on lowering health & SEIZE. Know spawn locations, pause between rounds for
healing, and there’s a mini boss at the end; to cheese, ground pound - 1st
island: Capture Plates - Capture plates 3x. Start at top, work toward bottom.
Don’t waste time killing, don’t need to kill all enemies from each wave, and
seize helps - 4th island: Furnace Cubes - Locations are randomized. Throw them
into fire, move quick to avoid enemies, and don’t waste time killing - Boss -
Stand on top of the light pole near cliffs (between 2 middle stages). Use charge
to reveal, then snipe. Shield when it drops invis & blasts. Smaller distorted
hiss can also spawn ______________________ # JESSE FADEN STARRING “SWIFT
PLATFORM” - DON’T DODGE unless you know your position. Throw up shield instead.
You might accidentally dodge off the platform - There’s 1 part where you have to
levitate over and back to avoid a wall; there’s not a 2nd platform to jump over
to - Don’t wait til the last minute to dodge / jump over an obstacle, I promise
you have time! - Deal with the flying enemies with Pierce or Grip. Don’t let
them get too close, launch if they do. Don’t forget shield - Dealing with ground
enemies with Charge was easiest and quickest for me if they’re in a group. Don’t
forget shield - For the first “mini boss”, a heavy gunner with a shield, just
keep moving / levitating and throw up your shield if you need to. Wait him out,
and after a few moments, a wall will smash and kill him - For the final “boss”,
stay calm. Be careful about if / where you dodge, levitate if you must. When
he’s about to range attack you (2 hits?), throw up your shield, then shoot (I
used pierce to snipe), repeat. IMO it’s actually very easy but just take it easy
and slow. When he spawns ground enemies on the other platform, don’t panic, keep
your shield up until you have a window, shoot Charge at them to kill, and go
back to the boss. That’s it! - Grip mods: eternal fire, dmg, dmg against
armor(?) | Pierce mods: dmg, dmg while aiming, custodial readiness | Charge
Mods: Thin Space, blast radius, ammo recov on wep hits (OP) | Personal mods: I
think I used health, energy, and energy recovery speed? Then for the last boss I
swapped out energy recov speed for shield strength
