Today, Porto will be swept up in a wave of (controlled) madness: it’s São João’s festival. Soon, crowds will flood the city, and the sound of plastic hammers can already be heard — ready to tap merrily on everyone’s heads, as is tradition.
As darkness falls, the city will be heaving with people, and the scattered explosions will send the seagulls into a panic. But come midnight, the real spectacle begins: this year, fireworks will be launched from the Arrábida Bridge itself (pictured).

If you're in Porto, don’t miss the exhibition Lecture of the Visible! Running until May, from Monday to Saturday (10:30 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.), it is in the newly renovated Abel Salazar building, near Santo António Hospital. What makes it truly special? The artworks are rarely seen—hidden gems by renowned artists like Amadeo de Souza-Cardoso and Vieira da Silva. Once the exhibition ends, who knows when these masterpieces will be displayed again?
A unique opportunity for art lovers.
