@downtownjoshbrown I think you are obviously right. The Fed stopped raising rates and reversed course in 2008 right after WAMU, but it as almost always was late. I Would love to see different policy levers. The existing ones feel like driving a car with limited visibility and a rusty steering wheel.
@downtownjoshbrown Is history rhyming? I looked up the S and P 500 level when WAMU went into receivership on September 28th 2008. The peak of the market was in October 2007 at over 2200. By September of 2008 the S and P 500 was ~ 1600 - 27% off the peak (the graph I am using only has monthly data points) . After WAMU, the S and P went down to about 1000 in Feb of 2009. Another ~27% drop. Does SVB bring us into phase 2 of the Bear Market?
