Just a dude in Northern Canada
Had an epiphany while watching the olympic hockey finals, maybe I need to start watching politics the way people watch sports. Canada's fumbled so many great opportunities and there's no reason that the game should have reached overtime, but man are they excited when the goal actually happens. Maybe I just need to ignore all the missed opportunities and almost good things and just cheer when things go right for once.

The great Carsonization:

The elderly priest gazes down upon the baby, tiredly excited. This day has been generations in the making. Centuries of cajoling and coercing had gone into this moment.

Lifting the child and turning toward the crowd below the battlements, he proclaims "It is time!". The crowd erupts into applause, roaring their approval. With this naming ceremony/funeral, every last person on the planet is now named Carson.

Everyone erupts from their skins and becomes crabs. The end

I've been trying to figure out what exactly has been so weird about the past few years and I think I've finally got the phrasing more structured than it has been in my head. We're more or less collectively surfacing from under the ocean of propaganda, together. It's been a scattered, lonely bunch for decades, screaming down at everyone else that things aren't what they seem, but now we're all being lifted to the same vantage. The unvarnished ugliness is becoming more apparent day by awful day.
One must imagine Sisyphus happy, because otherwise what's to keep you from ending things in a worse position?
