Is it possible to have a usable domain without a VPS or a static IP address?
I’ve been thinking about finally getting myself a proper domain for my server, but a friend told me that to get one I either need a VPS with a public ip (which just takes all the fun out of selfhosting) or purchase a static ip, which is beyond what I’m willing to spend for a hobby. Do I have any good options or should I just let it go?

The Finals Steam Background Recording workaround?
Playing The Finals on my Fedora KDE install, the game runs wonderfully under proton, however a recent update added verification to the EAC config file so the workaround I found to make Steam Background Recording work now causes the game to close. Is there another workaround for this?
Does the fact Stoat.chat doesn't have E2EE mean the server owner can read any and all messages, including DMs?
I’m aware of what end-to-end encrypted means in a technical sense, but does the lack thereof guarantee the messages are just plaintext readable to whoever’s manning the machine? My guess is yes but I’ve been known to have wildly incorrect guesses so I want to double-check.

Why isn't using a key file the most common way to log into self-hosted servers?
It’s the first idea I had when it came to making sure login on my server is secure. Instead of having a small password that relies on my fallinble memory and may be also guessed in a not-completely-rodiculous amount of time. Meanwhile a fairly small file, something like a 512 byte “user.key”, to be uploaded along with your username, or even just having your username built-in, seems much safer. Cheapest way to back up a *lot* of data?
Hello!! Some recent technical problems on my family’s NAS gave me a big scare and finally pushed me to figure out a way to back it all up. I’m asking here specifically because I really don’t know where to even starts because of the fact I’ve got just under 50 terabytes worth of data stored in a 7-disk RAID-5 and would prefer to keep it cheap. What are your suggestions?
GPU too small for case.
Hello! I excitedly bought myself a new Graphics card for my setup. Now, this was the first time I’d ever built a computer, and the case I used was an old hand-me-down mid-tower. While purchasing the card I considered power draw and airflow, however I did not account for size. The drive bay can’t be removed if not by forceful means. I assume the best course of action is to just purchase or find a bigger case, but I wanted to make sure I wasn’t missing any option so that’s why I’m asking here. What do I do? Do I try to hardmod my case into having enough space for the card?
Do you follow YouTubers that are part of the "Bread tube" ring? Why/why not?
