In English, we say: "Not who I thought"

But in poetry we say: "I fell in love with a story you were telling, only to find out you were just reading from a book written by someone else." #poetry

In English we say: "It was all a beautiful lie"

But in poetry we say: "You arranged the most perfect flowers in the vase of my belief, knowing they had no roots and would wilt the moment I turned my back." #poetry

In English we say: "You've seen me at my worst."

But in poetry we say: "You have visited the ruins of my soul on its darkest day and did not run; instead, you lit a candle and remarked on how beautifully the moonlight fell through the broken ceiling." #poetry

In English we say: "We have changed."

But in poetry we say: "We are rivers that began in the same spring but have traveled different lands; the water is still the same, but the stones we carry have altered our course." #poetry

In English we say: "We need to talk."

But in poetry we say: "There is a silence between us that has grown too loud to ignore; let us sit with it and translate its heavy language before it says something we can't take back." #poetry

In English we say: "Just another disappointment"

But in poetry we say: "I am a collector of beautiful ruins; your collapsed promise is just another artifact I will tag and place on a shelf, a perfect specimen of what almost was." #poetry

In English we say: "Live in the moment."

But in poetry we say: "Do not waste today mourning the sunsets of yesterday or fearing the clouds of tomorrow; the only time that truly belongs to you is the single breath you are taking right now." #poetry

In English we say: "The past haunts me."

But in poetry we say: "Memory has become a ghost with my own face, who lives in the attic of my mind and rearranges the furniture when I'm not looking." #poetry

In English we say: "I'm trying to find my purpose."

But in poetry we say: "My soul is a library of unopened books, and I am wandering the aisles, searching for the one whose title bears my own name." #poetry

In English we say: "I learned my lesson."

But in poetry we say: "The past was a cruel teacher, and I carry its lessons not as words, but as scars that remind me which fires are not meant to be touched." #poetry
