Just because I love music games doesn't mean I'm good at them

In lieu of the news, I guess I'm going back to blogging soon on another website!
The posts of this account will always remain the same. I love music games to death, and Cohost was my place for all. Over 150 posts over almost 2 years! If you ever want a fun fact, I'm called "IceMagi" because it was short for "IceMagikoopa", where my handle on Cohost was "magikoopa". Unfortunately, the name was too long for many medias so I settled with IceMagi.
I typically refrain from putting personals here...
Cohost.org was the first social media I have ever gotten myself into at such a massive scale, and ultimately has built my confidence to actually make this account on Mastodon.
Big tech social media is not my thing. Anxiety is inevitable, and civility is my spirit animal. I would rather have 3 friends than 300 followers, so this will be my main feed for now on.
Thank you Cohost, you will be missed.
Finally got to return to the arcade!
I've had a 3 hour session with my typical games, including a suprise round of DrumMania. The SDVX machine recently got translated into English and Chunithm got upgraded to NewPLUS!
A lot of pent up energy as well to burn into StepManiaX. Far from perfect, but can finally play 10 and 10+ with little struggle, maybe a 11 or 12 next time?
Admitingly it all wore me out by the end of the day, but I still loved every second of it
(Not a paid ad, I am suggesting this on my own free will)
I'd like anyone who is curious about arcade music games (or arcade games in general) to visit Zenius once in a while. That website was how I was able to find an arcade full of music games for me!
https://zenius-i-vanisher.com/v5.2/index.php
I know not every game is within reasonable reach, but if you are lucky, live near a major city, or otherwise find yourself able to go, you might find a handful of new games to explore and have fun with <3
A bit of a reach to ask, but does anyone know a good affordable online resource for Blue NESiCA cards (not red)? I have someone IRL who's interested in registering for an older music game but my main resource, eamusement(dot)cards has unfortunately stopped selling them as of late Febuary. My local arcade only sells KONAMI e-amusement cards.
As of now I have ddrpad(dot)com to trust upon as a last resort, though their cards are a bit expensive and I'd like to avoid eBay when possible
Occionally, I find myself thinking "Huh, I've been playing music games for so many years now. It's just tapping shapes to music". However, it really does bring great joy to me.
Videogames in general are meant to let oneself relax for a bit from the tiring world. It's created by real people to bring joy to the player, they want us to enjoy it. From simple puzzles to open world ARPG, there's something for all.
So how about we let loose and play whatever makes us smile today?
Decided to push myself a bit harder today!
Tried my first Level 14 in WACCA, surprisingly passed. Tried my first Level 8 in Maimai, unsurprisingly didn't pass. That's alright though, maybe one day!
Also tried StepManiaX, though I have little dance music experience. Still had a lot of fun today :)
Hi!
Those in the music game scene might know me already haha. I'm IceMagi/Magi, one of those people who enters the arcades, plays a bit, and walks out without you even realizing. I do play Nintendo Switch and mobile sometimes. All games and current ones I keep in my Backloggery.
Music and general gaming will still be at cohost.org/magikoopa, but here I explicit post music games (majority arcade).
