@peter I opened that article, and after the first two paragraphs is a widget? advertisement? from Polymarket offering bets on S&P performance. No wording around it saying “this is a paid ad,” so I guess it’s just part of the story (no matter how disjointed) and approved by the editorial team that published this. If so, WTAF???!?

Milbank is a pig. At least we have some non-corporate local news trying to be built here too. Problem is that a lot of the people involved in that still think they need to try to pretend we exist in a world where you can just present “both sides” and that is good journalism.
@donw yes, me, last Saturday. I got there at about 11 and had to wait until about 12:15 to get called in. Took 2 minutes at that point. Well run, obviously very busy on a Saturday. Guy at the desk said midweek is *much* quieter.

Among the other mayoral candidates, @garygoodweather.bsky.social, who is also using public financing, has raised/received $380k so far and has $160k on hand. Vincent Orange is using traditional financing; $228k raised, $175k of which was a personal loan.
