Ever since updating to iOS 18.1, it seems like notifications on my iPhone are 10ish seconds delayed, regardless of what app they’re from.

Apparently, that’s a “feature” of Apple Intelligence… and switching off AI allows the notification through instantly.

So, if you find yourself waiting for MFA notifications in 18.1… that’s why.

Why… why do companies do this? Maybe at Amazon or Apple or Google where people are clamoring for a job… but at a company that struggles to attract strong talent???

Next year (Probably): we are loosening our in office policies due to staffing shortages. Hiring is not limited to office locations.

(Company suffers from low productivity and high turnover. CEO is shown the door)

This year: We are an “in office” company. 4 days/week for all staff within 50 miles of an office, no exceptions.

(Staff previously hired remote within range are now expected in office, new hires must be near office, other remote staff stay remote)

1 year ago: To foster greater collaboration, 3 days in office for some employees. It’s a great balance.

(Continues to hire remote for many roles, people begin leaving for other opportunities)
