After the Second World War this was the fate for many B-17s; the Boneyard. Some were sold on for new lives as cargo aircraft or to help build burgeoning passenger services, flown by experienced pilots. Some were also sold to collectors, including a Scout troop who paid $300 for a scrap B-17!

Ben Skipper on Instagram: "Carrying on with the Land Rover theme here are a few more stills of the vehicle that made its name through its off-road exploits. These images are predominantly of the military variants, including an interesting short of a Korean War Land Rover in service with the US Army Corps of Engineers. Other variants include the Forward Control versions, used as a light gun tractor or signals post as well as the VKP Land Rover which was strengthened by glass fibre armour. These saw service during Op. Banner until the arrival of the CAV 100 series, which also saw use with the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) in Kosovo, where they were painted in orange. #landrover #britisharmy #militaryhistory #history #transporthistory #militaryhistorian"
