We did not turn a corner. When I got home to take Leo for his check up he had had a big accident in his sleep. He had another one in the car, and has been dribbling ever since.
The vet says that the weekend was good because his bladder was pretty empty so it wasn’t leaking.
The last possible thing to do is another surgery, but the vet doesn’t think it would help, and it’s $6000.
So Leo’s trials are over today. No more struggles, no more discomfort. Only peace.
The vet removed Leo’s catheter last night at 9pm. He hasn’t had an accident since! I’m hoping we’ve turned the corner!!
Back to the vet yesterday. Leo has not regained the bladder control we were hoping he would. He’s on a three day stay, catheterised to shrink his bladder again (for longer) and see if that’s all it will take. Otherwise they want to do another surgery, but I’ve reached the bottom of my wallet, and with no guarantee the next surgery will actually work… tough choices will have to be made soon if he doesn’t turn a corner on his own.
The vet figured out the urine incontinence was because his bladder had been too big for too long. He spent 24 hours catheterised (again) to empty it out and let it heal a bit. Then he started on a drug to help the bladder contact.
Still had an accident today but is definitively using his litter, and his bladder is nice and small and firm.
But he has decided this broken ass scratching pad is the best thing ever. Better than cuddling with me even! Weirdo.
Quick trip to the vet this morning to check how he’s doing emptying his bladder. I was happy to report 2 big puddles overnight. She had a gentle feel for his bladder and agreed felt like he was doing good.
He’s still urine incontinent, but that should get better. Some of it is that he is still on an alpha blocker which makes voiding easier so he doesn’t strain at all. Once we stop that one the incontinence will quickly get better.

Attached: 1 image Well, this little bugger, Leo, has been at the Vet ER all weekend, because he has bladder stones. Not just crystals for the little over achiever, nope. Stones. But not a big stone, because then odds of him reblocking his urethra would be smaller… nooooo little stones that have already reblocked his catheter multiple times. I pick him up tomorrow and take him to his own vet for a second opinion and a longer term treatment plan. #cat #catsofmastoton #vet #ouch
After a rough start to our day things are, I hope, moving in the right direction. He didn’t pee all night, but had an accident at 8am… just as I was going to call the vet to say he hadn’t peed!
After changing my bed I took him in anyway and his bladder was still full! So they kept him for the day and catheterised him again. We’re back home now though
Quick trip back to the vet in the morning for what we hope is just a check up, and then on with our healing journey!
