Am on the hunt for a new job and have discovered a disturbing trend with recruiters. My main motive is because I am being paid well below market rates for my skill set.
When I state my pay expectation (ie the market rate) to recruiters the males are much more positive about my expectations than the females.
Is it some kind of internalised personal worth being reflected
How do you know the media have an agenda? You report electricity lines through a farm but don't mention farmers on the Liverpool Plains who have been fighting gas lines on their farms for a decade.
Anti renewable crusader Barnaby represents these people, by the way. Funnily enough, you'll never hear him mention it.

Farmers divided over route for Transgrid's VNI West renewable energy transmission line

Some are cheering the extra income from a proposed renewable energy transmission line, while others are vowing to lock their gates against electricity provider Transgrid.

Thing I don’t get is people believing that hydrogen is going to be a useful automotive fuel. Are they all oil company shills?

Hydrogen is an objectively terrible fuel for pretty much any use with the possible exception of aviation.

It has abysmal energy density for a given volume, even if you liquify it (compare Falcon heavy to Delta IV heavy: similar lift capacities but the latter is fucking enormous because hydrogen takes up stupid amounts of space and the former runs on kerosene).

It doesn’t stay where you put it, ever. It’s literally impossible to keep hydrogen in a container. A hydrogen molecule is so small that it will fuck off through the gaps in soils iron. You cannot store it long term.

To get ANY kind of sensible energy density from it, you have to liquify it (where it’s still shit compared to pretty much any other energy source in the same volume), and that’s cold. Seriously, seriously, mind bendingly cold. It makes liquid nitrogen look like lava.

Oil companies like it because atom for atom, crude oil is mostly hydrogen. Go figure.

But it’s an objectively dreadful fuel. Stop trying to make hydrogen a thing. It’s never going to be (again, planes maybe excepted).

If men are stronger than women why do male characters in video games need full plate armour while the women only need a chainmail bikini.
The “E-Bike Effect:” Those who bought e-bikes increased their average daily bicycle use from 2.1km (1.3 miles) to 9.2km (5.7 miles), a 340% increase. The e-bike share of all their transportation increased dramatically too; from 17% to 49%. Via @Treehugger

E-Bikers Ride Much Farther and More Frequently Than Regular Bikers

They are not 'cheating,' but are serious transportation.

Mealy-mouthed comments on Murdoch from Penny Wong reflect the way #Labor's decline has discredited even those who seemed to offer some hope. See also Plibersek. #auspol

Really tired of "we must adapt to this new reality" takes in response to horrible people doing preventable things.

Fuck that.

Make anti-vaxxers adapt to 20th century medicine. Make selfish people adapt to living in a society. Make billionaires adapt to paying their fair share. Make climate deniers adapt to science. Make conspiracy theorists adapt to reality. Make fascists adapt to getting punched in the face.

The rest of us aren't the ones who need to be "adapting."

Once more: fuck that.

Security "experts" don't want to hear this: But forcing people to log in more often does, in fact, increase the likelihood that:

- Someone will shouldersurf your password
- People will find shortcuts to make logging in more convenient
- People will chose passwords that are least annoying to them irrespective to how secure it is
- Phishing attacks are more successful

I was so sick of poor fitting underpants that I designed and made my own. They were so successful that I had them on backwards today and didn't even notice. I call that a win

NEW RESEARCH: Heat pumps are more than twice as efficient as fossil fuel heating systems in cold temperatures, our new research shows.

Even at temperatures approaching -30C, heat pumps outperform oil and gas heating systems.
