Something I think is a little underexplored in Star Trek and other optimistic science fiction is longing country songs written about missing the moon, looking up into the sky at night and wondering if you love is looking down at you

@derekberes Absolutely. A small price to pay when you can avoid unilateral takeovers, bad rules that apply across the board, catering only to advertisers, and major data mining.

@belghast Make sure your computer is set to output at 165 Hz. I know a lot of people accidentally keep it at 60 Hz.
@safeandsilent It's probably going to even out once the floods of new users abate and the servers can catch up
@chuckborowicz Think of it like email addresses. You can follow people from any instance just like you can email people no matter what domain their email address is at.

@cilian I would enjoy that. On twitter you'd have to think up lots of different variations of the phrase you wanted to block. Mastodon is open source and mostly, ruby... if you want to DIY
