A huge victory for the Standing Rock Sioux tribe of North Dakota ... sued the US government in a campaign to stop the environmentally risky pipeline being built on tribal lands.

The US army corps of engineers was ordered to conduct a full environmental impact statement (EIS), after the Washington DC court ruled that existing permits violated the National Environmental Policy Act (Nepa) ... which could take years!

“This hasn’t happened in 150 yrs or more,” said Daniel Swain, a climate scientist at UCLA’s Institute of the Environment and Sustainability. “There have even been a couple wildfires which is definitely not something you typically hear about in the middle of winter.”
