And a bit cringe too, with the Facebook aunt “doing research”-line.
And now they’re readying the reins for the 卐 team.
The Tory leadership, at the time of the referendum, was against Brexit. Sure, there was a Tory faction in favour, and the referendum was partially aimed at placating them (in addition to some other goals, which also spectacularly backfired), but Cameron and his ilk certainly didn’t want the referendum to go the way it did.
Western/Northern European conservatives are broadly similar to American conservatives, i.e. moderate Democrats, though European conservatives tend to support a much stronger welfare state (e.g., generally supporting universal health care and minimum income guarantees). It’s just that for various historical reasons, in the US ideological conservatives are called “liberal” and ideological fascists are called “conservative.” Fascism is popular in Europe as well, and they tend to oppose the EU.
That’s true, for a certain kind of crowd at least. But those aren’t really negative stereotypes.
Yes, it’s uncanny how he embodies literally every negative stereotype about Americans. The list goes on: he is obese, brash and bigoted. Has an education, but is uneducated, monolingual and bordering on illiterate. Claims to follow a religion, but is an atheist who knows nothing about said religion. Glorifies violence and war, but is a coward. I guess there isn’t a stereotype about Americans being rapists and paedos, but Trump is working on changing that as well.

As democracy is perfected, the office represents, more and more closely, the inner soul of the people. We move toward a lofty ideal. On some great and glorious day the plain folks of the land will reach their heart’s desire at last, and the White House will be adorned by a downright moron.

Strange argument. Not only should it be really obvious by now that your constitution isn’t helping you guys “fix those laws,” but you’re also saying that people who live in a society without a constitution shouldn’t be proud of their country. Now, as not-an-ultranationalist I do agree that people shouldn’t be “proud of their country,” but it’s certainly possible to offer a better justification of that position.
I know airlines must accommodate people with disabilities, but for this flight attendant they should probably make an exception.
Oh ja, zo’n ding hadden wij ook nog in de jaren '90!
