Took the granddaughters to Hale Farm and Village in NE Ohio. I didn't realize that Great Lakes Brewing Company grows vegetables and greens for use in their brewery and restaurant on a patch of land at Hale Farm.

These purple irises were on this property when we bought it 45 years ago. They're particularly splendid this season. My grandmother used to refer to them as "flags."

Since the first week of 2023, our street had been under reconstruction beginning 6 feet underground w/pipeline replacement. I've found it entertaining for the most part. Sorely disappointed that the nearest adult playground, where you learn to drive heavy equipment, has closed. It looks like so damn much fun!

Deep-dish pizza in a cast iron skillet. It's the first time I've used 00 flour for the crust, and it's delicious. Ingredients were mozzarella, sausage, pepperoni, mushrooms, onions, and peppers. Sauce was locally-made Mid's.

We weren't expecting 5-6 inches on Sunday, but it is pretty and the greyhounds love it. #NEOhio #Lakeeffect #NotBuffalo

First attempt at #croissants. Followed Claire Saffitz's instruction video from #NYT Cooking. Really pleased with the results.

I've been putting peanuts out for crows since summer. I have easy access to a small rooftop from the bathroom window, so that's where I set up the food post. Check out the footprints in the snow of all of today's visitors.
