San Francisco — Thank you for resoundingly voting for an oceanfront park! Prop K’s approval is a victory for all who will soon be able to walk, roll, and enjoy the coast in new ways, every day.
Our City’s coast belongs to all San Franciscans, and Tuesday’s vote confirmed that they want a bold, forward-looking vision for our coast. We thank San Franciscans for their support and Westside Supervisors Engardio and Melgar for giving San Franciscans a direct say in the future of their coast.
Transformational changes like removing the Embarcadero & Central Freeways and creating Crissy Field came with passionate debate - and produced some of our city’s most iconic and beloved spaces. Ocean Beach Park will soon join that list. We look forward to working with all neighbors - supporters and opponents alike - to make the most of our City’s precious coastline.
This Sunday, we’re talking to Noe Valley neighbors about the world-class park on our western shore!

In 2021, @NewUrbanism featured The Great Highway—and @GreatHighwayPark—as a “freeway without a future.”
This November, San Franciscans have an unprecedented opportunity to convert this redundant roadway into a full-time oceanfront park.
We must do our part to transform this space.
The campaign for the future of San Francisco's oceanfront just kicked off this weekend, and we need your help!

Great Highway Park is a pilot weekend and holiday road closure—a successful four-year experiment. Even in its pilot form, it’s San Francisco’s third most popular city park. With part of the Great Highway permanently closing due to coastal erosion, now is the time to create something permanent: a full-time oceanside park promenade along Ocean Beach.
With your help, on November 5th, we can create the city's next iconic open space: Ocean Beach Park.
