It’s a reference to the movie ‘One Battle After Another’. It’s a very good anti-facist film from last year; highly recommended

Lots to unpack here and I’m not looking to tackle all of it, but going back to any metal standard is a terrible idea. The value of a Fiat currency is based on the shared belief in it’s value, whereas a metal standard currency has its value in the shared belief in the value of the metal. No gain, but pushing the problem one step down the chain.

The substantial downside of metal standard currency is that it causes a scarcity in the metal compared to the amount needed for currency, leading to deflation. Suddenly you have a currency which encourages people not to spend as the currency is expected to be worth more in the future; the currency fails at it’s only job: facilitating trade.

I’d argue this is a precursor to metal rather than metal itself. Still a great song that everyone should listen to.
Midlander here. Dinner is the “main meal” whenever it’s eaten. Tea is always the evening meal and lunch is always the midday meal though.
Convincing people that punching Nazis gets them into heaven helps deal with a problem in our lifetime though
If you’ve not heard of these people, it’s likely a cultural difference. They’re definitely all well known people. Dua Lipa is one of the most popular pop stars in the UK and USA (and presumably worldwide) , Gary Lineker is a former football player, turned sports commentator, and Benedict Cumberbatch is an A-List actor.
It looks like old AC units last forever because you only see the ones that are still working, not those that failed over the years. Classic survivorship bias.
I think that was recently proven false. Still, the guys at Obsidian did an amazing job pumping out one of the best games of all time in a year and a half.
14 years of Conservative rule will do that to a country 🤷‍♂️
I’m back playing Escape from Tarkov. The game has some real performance issues and a pretty big cheater problem, but there is no other game on the market like it.
