@stolas If you can get an AWS free trial, a t2.micro will (barely) run a server that big free for a year. (I definitely didn't learn that while load-testing at work...)

You can't just give someone a linux box without instilling them with strong opinions on all the important issues, such as vim vs emacs, and systemd.

Like most of the new people today, I saw that post on hackernews and decided to give mastodon a try.
I'm currently studying compsci, and among other things, I enjoy:
* working on side projects, before becoming bored and disillusioned
* writing 'self documenting' code, followed by almost instant regret
* reinstalling npm packages while complaining about server-side javascript
* general shitposting
