Frog and Toad ate one last cookie. There were many cookies left in the bowl.
'Frog,' said Toad, 'let us eat one very last cookie, and then we will stop.'
Toad dusted his chairs. He scrubbed his windows. He watered his plants.
'There,' said Toad. 'Now I feel better.
A wind came. It blew across the land.
Bang! The sled hit a tree. Thud! The sled hit a rock. Plop! The sled dived into the snow.
Frog and Toad ate a big breakfast. And after that they spent a fine, long day together.
'Turtle,' said Frog, 'you will have to go away.'
'Why should I?' asked the turtle.
'Because Toad thinks that he looks funny in his bathing suit, and he does not want you to see him,' said Frog.
'Toad, Toad,' cried Frog. 'The sun is shining! The snow is melting. Wake up!'
That night when Toad went to bed he thought the biggest thoughts that he could think. Toad thought about giant sunflowers. He thought about tall oak trees. He thought about high mountains covered with snow. Then Toad fell asleep.
Frog knocked at Toad’s door. 'Toad, wake up,' he cried. 'Come out and see how wonderful the winter is!'
'Oh, drat,' said Toad. 'Not only do my feet hurt, but I have lost one of the buttons on my jacket.'
'Don’t worry,' said Frog. 'We will go back to all the places where we walked. We will soon find your button.'
