Hey all, I'm in the process of moving over to @FlyingMarmot so expect to see me there shortly!
@WizardOfDocs I appreciate it! There were quite a few different guides circulating, but glad to know fedi.tips is the go to. Now to see how long it takes to spool up the noggin enough to start the process...
I'm staggeringly bad at reading the room, but it feels like folks are getting a bit chilly on mastodon dot social... Any recommendations for where to move and best ways to migrate?
As something with much lower material requirements, I'm also getting a #SmashBros themed box together for a friend's kid:
The inlay will be filled with various coloured resins (pink Kirby body, black mouth/eyes, darker pink kirby feet, and probably silver or gold for the Smash symbol inside the box and the character symbols on the wall segments) #maker #design
Also no room for an inner shelf without a third board, so I might be committed... Have to stop and think about that, I guess, and finalize any (orange) inlay or (red) etched decorations I want when it becomes a physical object!
And then the box/drawer just barely fits on another, and then only if the box has an open bottom with 3 strips to hold it stable instead of a solid base that just won't fit without involving a third board!
Almost forgot the little gears!
The drawback of the hollow gears is trying to lay this out to be an efficient cut
(board is meant to be 1/4x6x36 inches, though there tends to be a little variability)
And the height at the top of the gear is about 15cm as well, so it's roughly square
The box will be about 8.5 x 15 cm, giving the drawer a useful footprint of 6x12 cm
The inner circle of the hollow gear has a diameter of 8cm, about 4cm across (depending on how close to 1/4 inch the boards I pick up end up being) so definitely looking at a curio box, might need to make a tiny book to go on a platform inside...
