Ah! Darn! I missed the hcross the land voting. I guess we'll see what happens. #Vatsim #FlyingBlind #FlightSimulation

NASA has officially declared the InSight Mars mission over after the lander missed its second consecutive communications session. DSN will continue to listen for any signals from the lander, but such contact is considered “unlikely.”

Metatext (my favorite iOS app for Mastodon) is looking for a new maintainer or organization to take on its maintenance and development. Are you an #iOS dev looking for a new project or an open source advocacy group that wants to see the fediverse healthy and strong? Shoot @metabolist an email at [email protected] if interested!

Progress MS-20 fired its engines at 1342 UTC to adjust the ISS orbit to miss a close approach from a piece of space debris, object 52960 (2011-037PP), part of a Fregat upper stage breakup
@ehler I cannot remember if I replied, if I did, disregard,if not, you are welcome.
On 2011 Jul 18, a Zenit-3F/Fregat was launched from Baykonur with the Spektr-R (Radioastron) space observatory. The Zenit stage 2 went to a 177 x 447 km orbit and reentered a few weeks later. The Fregat made a burn to 429 x 3703 km x 51.5 deg, jettisoned the SBB, and (cont)
then Fregat made a second burn to a deep 2936 x 335094 km x 51.6 deg orbit and released Spektr-R.
The SBB tank disintegrated on 2020 May 8 after 9 years in orbit.
