Another frustration I have with expat life : Despite the translation and prononciation of my name being easy in this new language, locals can't fathom the existence of a compound first name. So I end up being called by half of my actual name 100% of the time. Trying to explain results in much confusion and is successful 25% of the time.

A problem with expat life so far: wanting to use the local library to read some books but there are barely any books (and no recent ones at that) available in English. It wouldn't be such a problem if I didn't read like a 3rd grader in this country's language.
