Bye Misskey NixNet! Gonna miss being over here

I've moved to nixnet.social for now, but my connection hates it for some reason, so I'll probably end up moving again at some point.
Maybe I'll move to Pleroma or Mastodon or smth. As much as I love Misskey, I use it much less than my Mastodon account because I can use that one more easily on a phone.
I would still like emote reactions tho hmm

RIP NixNet. Oh man, where am I gonna move to? Hmm
The instance is going to be shutdown in april 22

🚨BREAKING NEWS!🚨

Automattic, the company behind WordPress, is now co-authoring the ActivityPub plugin for WordPress.

The intent is to make WordPress a "first party Fediverse member" on par with Mastodon, Pleroma, and Pixelfed.

WordPress already powers 43% of all websites—and every one is a potential Fediverse server.

Automattic employee @kraft just confirmed this.

@[email protected] @[email protected] Matt is also in a position to get invited to these new platforms, so he should take it to check it out. He's been giving away invites to others at Automattic, especially engineers, to check it out. And, at the same time, Automattic is partnering up with the developer of the ActivityPub WordPress plugin to continue to iterate on WP being a first party Fediverse member. ( https://wordpress.org/plugins/activitypub/ see that we're an author now too).

If Meta is really working on a new ActivityPub-powered social network, I see it as a very positive signal overall--my personal feelings towards Meta notwithstanding. For one, it's validation for our entire ecosystem from the biggest player. It also tells me that they don't see themselves as strong enough to keep users locked inside their walled garden anymore. It means the tide is really turning for interoperable social media, and that's always been the goal.
And also, for the love of god, someone please explain to people that "This service incorporates AI" /= "This service's AI is feeding off your data"

The fact that there were people out there who thought Discord *wasn't* tracking everything you do and was actually privacy focused...lmao. They should really teach kids in school what E2EE is and how to actually protect their privacy online...
