A loser who can't get a job. A writer wannabe rejected by every sci-fi magazine. I did everything right, why am I like this?
A lot of enshitification was tested on games first. The whole model requires a vulnerable audience to get tested and many gamers are just trying to deal with life in their escapist hobby. Bastards really knew how to test their shitty monetizations and eventually far-right recruting - though the last one dates back to the 70's when neo-nazies started to prey on early nerd culture.
I wonder if @pluralistic wrote anything on the subject while I was out.

Valve have gone public with their legal fight against the New York attorney general over whether lootbox mechanics qualify as gambling.
