Simply doing a traceroute to a website in another country a long time ago fascinated me. Seeing it hit all of the routers in other cities then across the ocean to another continent and back in less than 100ms blew my mind.

Led me down that path and now I’ve been a network engineer for over 10 years.

There’s some brands that cheat this in Australia.

They have “select a size” or something, where they have smaller length sheets. So you get a bigger number of them and it shows a lower price/100 sheets.

Only ever seen the small length ones on the shelves, but I haven’t looked that hard though tbh.

Libs in the 90s(?) sold the copper network to Telstra. Only for Telstra to let it fall into disrepair.

Then these chucklefucks come up with the dumb fuck fibre + copper network, then have to pay Telstra for the copper network again. Just to have to fix it up, and run copper again in the fucking 2010s.

Only to just fucking rip it all out again to put fibre in as they should’ve done in the first place.

What a fucking waste, still salty about it to this day.

Any time someone says “nah turnbulls alright” I give them this story and they’re usually like “what a cunt” in the end.
