In non snout drama related news I forgot to mention I finished my hamster enclosure... well the enclosure itself there are still a few things I have to buy before a hamster can actually dwell in it (I need to buy more substrate, some sand for their sand bath and some chews for ya know... teeth :B).
I'm too tired to move instances at the moment but maybe over the weekend I might. While I feel its extremely silly to move to TWITTER of all places to feel safer this place clearly has a lot of issues happening here with people not communicating with one another and its making me uncomfortable. I already didn't feel like I fit into snouts due to having next to no libido so this is probably my sign to look into an place in the fediverse that's a better fit for me.
Tbh I don't know what happened that people are leaving this instance since I don't check the main snouts feed that often. Assuming it is really THAT bad any suggestions for another furry instance would be nice. It can be 18+ or not I don't draw enough porn/am horny on main enough for that to matter. Also note I'm trans and disabled so it definitely has to be an instance with strong policies against harassing marginalized individuals.
Btw for the record my enclosure is 660 square inches of flooring and the minimum cage requirement for a hamster is 450 square inches of flooring. I definitely didn't cut corners there this is literally the biggest clear storage bin I could find for a DIY hamster enclosure. I literally went to Canadian Tire for the first time in like 2 years to make this happen because Walmart's biggest storage bin was barely grazing the minimum and I was like "I absolutely can do better!" and I did!
Also another reason I want a dwarf hamster is -ON AVERAGE- they're less prone to stress behavior that comes with being in a domesticated housing. Apparently sometimes it doesn't matter how big your enclosure is a Syrian hamster will display "my cage is too small and driving me insane" behavior which is ya know... not exactly the type of situation anyone wants to get into when owning an animal.
Slowly putting together a a DIY hamster enclosure because because I'm getting sad not having any pets. Once I got it done I'll take a photo. I still need a few things for the cage itself and a couple may need to wait until I can get confirmation I can get a dwarf hamster at all right now (covid screwed a lot of stuff up). If syrians is all anyone's got I'll need to buy a new wheel/hut basically (those I currently own were for a mouse enclosure and they're somewhat smaller rodents).
I have nothing of value to contribute recently to Snouts dot online but here's a photo of a mouse that somehow got into my apartment that I caught then released outside.
I'm pretty sure they actually snuck into the building while some cleaning was being done (the front door was left open and unintended for quite a while) so I'm hoping this is the last I see of them as cute as they are.
