Conversation snippet from the D&D campaign I'm part of.

My character has had a traumatic life (common for D&D characters, though hers is more recent than even what is in her backstory), and is struggling with grief, depression, and anger from both.

"You're not alone Elandra, you're surrounded by people all the time."
"It is entirely possible to sit in a room full of people, and still feel- to still *be* alone."

"Inflation hawks warn us of the wage price spiral, which is when inflation goes up and powerful workers bargain for higher wages, which drives up costs, and thus prices, and thus wages. This is the fairy-tale version of what happened in the 1970s and it's entirely true except for the fact that it was OPEC's embargo driving up oil prices that caused inflation, a fact that makes it entirely false, but oh well."

Abdominal cramps, low grade fever.. bleh.
Am not dead, just underwater.

So far today I've been told I don't:

* Have a good reason to leave Twitter/Elon to not buy Twitter
* Understand how being pan works
* Know anything about anarchism
* Know anything about 1984 or Fahrenheit 451

People are fucking weird.

I used to work 16 hour days to meet deadlines, also as a way to avoid a crap situation at home (plus depending on the home situation that 16 hours might be one 8 hour day in equivalent labor as I had to run errands to take care of my mother).

Where I'm at now, we work a dedicated 8 hours, but the actual stress put on me is much more significant. Especially when I'm up against drop deads and dev is still haggling with PMs over feature creep which bucks my time tables.

#worklifeimbalance

I've come to realize that I'm so stressed out at work that if I stop moving I fall asleep.

I'd noted that I was falling asleep at increasingly odd times like a few minutes after I get off my shift and go to destress and boom it's half an hour to an hour later. I'm also experiencing more and more spells of insomnia.

I'd been concerned that it was diabetes or narcolepsy so I did some dumb things to test, and yeah, no.. it's literally my stress levels. If I stop moving my body just packs it in.

Was not expecting to spend today starting with an anxiety attack, and spending the rest of it recovering from the same.
Today's cherry feeling brought to you by existential dread.
