It’s just struck me: with Caroline being up early tomorrow morning for college, and with me getting in at 10 pm tonight from work (combined with my early start in the morning), I’m not gonna get the chance to make pancakes. So I’m going to miss Shrove (pancake) Tuesday. Bugger.
Bugger, bugger, bugger.
Saturday Night 9.10pm, for ANT-MAN & THE WASP: QUANTUMANIA.
Death of cinema?
I’m not the biggest Oasis fan - they’re not my band of choice and, anyway, Madchester rather passed me by - but you can tell my current state of mind when Virgin Radio threw on (WHAT’S THE STORY) MORNING GLORY on the way back from the hospital on *Monday, ffs!!* …and it’s still well and truly stuck in there, on permanent repeat. Damn!!
Help, Mastodonians. I need your earworms of choice for a Friday night…
I have heard word on t’grapevine/interwebs that a live action adaptation of HOW TO TRAIN YOUR DRAGON - one of my all-time favourite films, a real tour de force of anthropomorphic character animation & master storytelling - has been greenlit and is hitting cinemas March 2025.
To which I say: fire up the rocket. It’s time to f#%king leave.
(Yes, I know that Dean DeBois, the original’s co-writer and co-director is returning to write, direct and produce. Don’t care. Kill it. Kill it with fire.)
The show returns over the weekend of Friday 29th Sept to Sunday 1st October 2023 - find out all the latest updates, and book your tickets, at https://www.comicartfestival.com/

Con Flashback: ROLE PLAYING AND STORYTELLING, Lakes International Comic Art Festival, Kendal, 2019.
Here, host Chris Thompson (@popculturehound, r) chatted to, left to right, the esteemed and knowledgeable writer panel of @SiSipurier, @BeckyCloonan and, photographed on the mic, the one and only @andydiggle. The topic was a fascinating one, about the strengths and advantages of utilising roleplay skills as a writer, implementing them directly or under the radar.
