Sure, have your pet peeves. That’s perfectly fine. However, making someone feel bad about it and implying they should feel guilty, when they’ve already made a huge accomplishment in learning another language, isn’t. You’re not wrong, but you’re still an asshole.
I’m a native English speaker. Honestly… who cares? We can still understand them just fine. Do you speak four+ languages like they do? I studied a second language for 10 years in school and barely remember it. I self-studied a third for a couple of years and it’s HARD. What in the world do they have to be guilty for? Being way better at being multilingual than the average native English speaker?
Deserve? No. But it’s not entirely unexpected either. Does someone deserve to die because they go BASE jumping with a wing suit? Of course not, but ya know, if you do highly risky things, you should consider possible consequences. And BASE jumping doesn’t even harm or threaten other people unlike B&E. You’re asking likely terrified, frantic residents to pause for rational thought and then also bet their lives on the possibility this unknown person who has already broken into their home might not want to also hurt them.

Not the person you replied to, but just wanted to say thank you for taking the time to write up such an informative answer. I learned quite a few things from it.
I think people tend to choose the more unique/recognizable name to call candidates by. For example, we also call Bernie Sanders by his first name more often than his last. “Harris” is a more common name than “Kamala”. “Clinton” could be confused for Bill, but “Hillary” isn’t going to be mistaken. I don’t think it has anything to do with the candidate’s gender.
I, too, think that the best way to get people on my side is to burn their homes and livelihoods down. /s
As long as they don’t give the milk to their innocent children either…
As a family that tries to cook as many of our meals as possible and generally visits the store once a week, it can be a big endeavor. To make balanced, healthy meals for the whole week requires a large variety of ingredients. This makes meal planning before the trip and having a list necessary, and then there’s a lot of searching for things that may not always be in stock.
Additionally, we often restock household necessities and toiletries on this trip as well, which requires more planning and a longer list. Add all this together with carrying all the bags, putting things away, etc, and it can be pretty exhausting.
I see, thank you kindly for your explanation. I knew he’s still the head of the Republican Party but I didn’t expect him to still be able to influence foreign relations to such a large extent. That’s just wild to me.
