@jzillw Recently, I've been playing through stuff from Frictional Games' catalogue, and one of the things that makes the monster encounters scary is that there is no point 2 in most cases. The darkness and corridors limit visibility, so it's hard to tell which spots are safe, or even what to expect at all. It's a bit less of a case in Penumbra, where you can find area maps on some walls, and you have to backtrack a lot.
