My two newest additions to the collection. I am already playing Western Front Ace and enjoying the experience though I am finding it a lot more challenging than my other Gregory Smith games. I opened Stuka Leader and found a very large number of components. Love the 14 colour overlays. These games will keep me busy for the next little while.
After restarting the learning scenario multiple times, I think I finally have the rules figured out enough to tackle scenario no.3 of Strike-Counter Strike, my first full GTS scenario. I have a few other GTS titles on my shelf that have been gathering dust just waiting for me to learn this system. If this works out I will give the campaign scenarios a try and then move on to The Greatest Day and Operation Mercury.
#HexesForeverMail Call: Just arrived in Southern Ontario. I have been looking forward to this so I can learn the GTS system and then I can finally get The Greatest Day off my shelf and on to the table.
Mail Call. Just arrived in Southern Ontario. I missed out on this gem with its initial release so when the 2nd printing was announced I made sure I didn't miss again. Now off to getting this onto the table!
#HexesForeverMail call. Just arrived in Southern Ontario from GMT. I had completely forgotten that I had P500'd this game. It will have to wait to get to the table, too many other arrivals in the queue.
#HexesForeverLots of planes in the sky! Working my way through scenario 5 of Carrier Battle: Philippine Sea from Compass Games. Very much enjoying the programmed instruction format of the rules. I failed miserably at the first 4 scenarios but I am slowly figuring out better tactical approaches to success.
#HexesForeverEnd of turn 2 from the Cross Keys scenario of GBACW's Death Valley. In order to represent the McClellanesque timidness of the Union leader Freemont, the Union forces can only place one brigade in attack order and other brigades cannot move within 3 hexes of the enemy. The only way to overcome this restriction is to earn enough victory points to place more brigades in attack order. However I am finding it almost impossible to gain any victory points if I can only put one brigade on the offensive. I may need to finish this scenario by removing the optional restriction on Freemont's mojo.
#HexesForeverGetting set to play the Battle of Cross Keys (June 8, 1862). Ewell's Confederates prepare to hold off the advancing Union troops under Freemont in the Shenandoah Valley.
Just finished the first scenario of The Hill of Death. Excellent back and forth action for control of Champion Hill, the crossroads, and the cornfield. At the end all three were held by the Union for a 4-2 victory.
Just finished turn 4 of The Hill of Death, Hermann Luttmann's game on the Battle of Champion Hill from Tiny Battle Games. The Union seems to have the upper hand but many units are shaken or disrupted. Champion Hill has already changed hands three times. Highly recommend this easy to learn game with a small footprint.
