'And it is neither liberty, nor justice, when we surrender to the myth, that if some are to win, others must lose.' - Don Berwick, he/him
Virtually every property for sale in the state below $300k is presented as a Potential Money Maker, with next to, and often no, information about, like, the neighborhood, the town, anything around it, etc. The industry fully expects that no one will *ever* both own and live in these structures.

This is horrifying and disgusting. 🤮

Sometimes I think the rest of nature (what’s left of it) will erupt into cheers when humans finally go extinct.

A new disease has been described in seabirds, but it might just be the tip of the iceberg.

Rather than being caused by viruses or bacteria, "plasticosis" is caused by small pieces of plastic which inflame the digestive tract. Over time, persistent inflammation causes tissues to become scarred and deformed, with knock-on effects on growth, digestion, and survival.

Dr. Alex Bond [@TheLabAndField], who co-authored the study, says, "While these birds can look healthy on the outside, they're not doing well on the inside."

"This study is the first time that stomach tissue has been investigated in this way and shows that plastic consumption can cause serious damage to these birds' digestive system."

While plasticosis is only known from one species so far, the scale of plastic pollution means that it may be much more widespread. It could even be having impacts on human health.

NPR fielding endless discussions about the 'fairness' of loan forgiveness, today, while I was ferrying my ma around - really important to remind oneself that fairness is not a metric the US government much avails itself of when deciding how to act, and who to act for, or against.
That's the scary bit about propaganda - a pretty small % of the folks who are spouting it are doing so knowingly. Most believe it bc it is essentially all they know, so there's no sense of conflict in repeating it.

It would be almost comforting to know someone actually wanted every moment of every show to be unmitigated horror and suffering, with the payoff amounting to knowing whether or not there will be another season of unmitigated horror and suffering.
