There's a simple question anyone can ask themselves: is Russia already using a particular kind of capability against Ukraine?

With Austria, the problem is a deep internalisation of the idea that resisting the Russian juggernaut is hopeless, whereas appeasement is clever.

=> What was understandable self-interest in 1983 is rightly viewed as cynical cowardice in 2023

Facts:
-Fellow EU members, to which AUT is bound, incl. many that are smaller and closer to the source of danger, are sending arms
-RUS forces are nowhere near AUT borders
-AUT arms will not raise escalation risk
-AUT seen in many EU capitals as cynical
=> time to change
