I’ve also devoted a good chunk of my time to volunteering as the president of the Australian Psychedelic Society. This has been a massive year for the society, and we’ve achieved a lot. I haven’t run the stats for second half of the the calendar year. But, in our 21-22 financial year we ran 40 events across every state and territory other than the NT, grew our social media and newsletter reach, influenced policy in the ACT (though not as much as I’d hoped) and continued our progress towards DGR status. It’s never been more important to get good safety and harm reduction information to people, such is the explosion of awareness of #psychedelics in popular consciousness. It is also, in my opinion, the right time to push harder for decriminalisation of all drugs, including psychedelics).
I can’t take all, or even most, of the credit for the society’s achievements. People tell me I’m a decent leader. But I think having a great team of dedicated volunteers (some of whom are pictured below) makes that much easier (not easy, but not remotely as hard as it could be).
